The Cookie Jar
I just realized that I have not written on my blog since last year this time!! It is amazing how fast a year can go by. During the last year I was happily living among my fellow students(cookies) in a jar(nursing school).
I did do a lot of studying though, not only did I learn a lot of nursing information but as this year passed I also learned a lot about all the different kinds of cookies you may find in a cookie jar. For the last twenty two years I have mostly been a stay at home mom, and I tended to hang out with people who were more or less in the same stratosphere of life or let just say the same sort of cookies .
As I spend so much time with my fellow cookies in the jar, I got to know and experience all sorts of different cookies.
In this jar you may find your soft eager to please the palate cookie, the hard baked but melt in your mouth cookie, the chocolate chip cookie with just enough oomph to win you over. The bitter cookie but the more you eat the better it becomes, or the tangy one with just enough bite to make you come back for more. The aromatic one that makes you linger, the broken one and the distasteful one.
Sometimes a cookie looks so good and you can not wait to eat it only to realize that it tastes really awful and spitting it out is your only option. A cookie may look absolutely disgusting and you may think that you would never even take one bite , but when you finally get the courage to take a bite you are so surprised and just want to sing for joy!
You have your Oreos where the best part is the inside or the Macadamia nut cookie where you may find some hard spots. The good and wholesome one and the over the top decadent one that makes you eat one too many.
As we all know, there is not a perfect cookie but we always strive to find it, and in our search we may stumble upon some surprises and be pleasantly surprised. As I have learned mixing up your cookies can be an adventure and teach you a few things about life you may have otherwise have missed out on. Jumping the jar is not that bad at all!
I feel really privileged to have been part of this jar, but it also made me think about what type of cookie I was and what type I want to be. Was I the first or last cookie to be picked? Did I leave a bitter aftertaste or a pleasant aroma?
As I prepare for my new jar I will ponder upon this and work on my cookie mix!
